Check Out the January 2024 EMQ
The directions of missions are changing. More people than ever before are leaving their locations of origin which is bringing a cross-cultural and multi-ethnic mission field to the back doors of people in otherwise reached nations. At the same time, with the church established in every geopolitical nation on earth, missionaries are now being sent from more nations than ever. The term “polycentric mission” acknowledges that missions does not occur in only one direction. That is more true than ever today! The January 2024 issue of EMQ covers all of these different ways that missions is going.
I found inspiration for the issue while attending the 2023 WEA Mission Commission gathering. I’m so thankful for Jay Matenga’s (WEA-MC executive director) work in curating content and participants for that gathering. I met many of the authors in this issue at that event.
There are so many great articles in this edition, but I really loved what Joy and Jaewoo Kim shared about what God is doing in Clarkston, Georgia. Read their article: Building God’s Kingdom Together: Partnering with People on the Move.
The non-thematic contributions from this edition included Leading with Beauty (about the importance of good stories about missions) and God’s Mission Story Centers on Fellowship (about God’s faithfulness).
If you do not have a subscription, you can still read a few articles in the issue that are freely available.
