Update on the 2022 Mission Leaders Conference

From September 28-30, 2022, I attended the Missio Nexus Mission Leaders Conference. The theme of the conference was “Counting the Cost,” and rather ironically given its theme, our conference proceeded through Hurricane Ian.

The event venue was, in fact, an Orlando-area hurricane shelter. In between sessions, we could see members of the National Guard and FEMA as well as people who had come to the hotel (with their animals!) for shelter during the storm.

I was a workshop presenter, leading a session on “How to Tell Dangerous Stories.” It’s the fourth time I’ve presented this workshop. It went well. I had about 15 in the room, as well as more attendees who participated via online streaming. See a little bit of my presentation above.

Ted Esler, the president of Missio Nexus, also invited me to do a short presentation about Evangelical Missions Quarterly for conference attendees.

The conference itself also had several great speakers, and opportunities to connect with many mission leaders. Because of the hurricane, a lot of participants had to participate online because their flights were cancelled. But that gave opportunity to connect more deeply with the 400 or so attendees that were able to be physically present.

Gifts given to my ministry helped cover costs for my participation in this event. Thank you for making this possible!
