Check Out the April 2023 EMQ

The April 2023 issue of EMQ delved into the connection between creation care and missions. This was a fun issue to work on because I learned so much. The idea to do an issue on this topic was birthed last year when Erik Hyatt submitted his article, “Is There a Green Gospel?”

His article challenged me, and gave me inspiration to explore the possibility of doing a whole issue related to this topic. My hope was that doing this could both provide a host of fresh ideas to missionaries as well as raise awareness of the environmental work so many missionaries are already doing worldwide.

I reached out to Ed Brown, a previous leader of the Lausanne World Evangelical Alliance Creation Care Network (LWCCN), and asked him if he would partner with me on the issue. Ed helped me determine topics and recruit writers. He did a great job helping me connect with so many involved in this area of missions.

We expected a little controversy as some may more readily exclude this topic from mission. However, working together, I believe Ed and I put together an issue that stands up well to theological and missiological criticism. (If you don’t believe me – read the issue! 🙂 ).

One more tid-bit from this edition – a friend who is an artist partner for one of the ministries featured in the April issue (A Rocha), generously offered a beautiful watercolor painting for our cover.

I am thrilled with how this issue came together! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!
